goodbye BSN22.... :(

parang kelan lang... parang kelan lang i was just a shy girl coming in at MTH104, nervous of what freshman life looks like. hindi pa tayo close nung mga time na yun, syempre all of us were all freshies... bago lahat ang mukha... some were friends wayyy back in highschool, pero para sa ating lahat... bago ang mundo ng COLLEGE.

days passed, months passed, and we eventually got along with each other... yung iba, nakabuo na ng grupo (obvious naman satin diba.. hahaha) and sometimes, i can't help but feel na yun ang dahilan bakit minsan nagkaka-gap ang block natin...

pero you know what guys? that's what made you, us, more lovable... despite our differences, despite our diversities... we just manage to click. as in, CLICK! ang galing ng block natin... ang talented, ang gulo, ang ingay... ang... basta! ang galing ng block natin.

natapos ang 1st year... may mga umalis... pero we still stood strong. when we reached sophomore year... andaming nangyari.... alam nyo naman yun diba? satin-satin nalang yun... hahaha... pero nung mga panahon yon, dun ko naramdaman na naging buo ang block natin... na kesyo sabihin nila na b***k tayo, anong paki natin? we know what's true... at napatunayan natin na mali sila.

ngayon, tapos na 2nd sem... ang hirap nyong i-let go guys maingay man tayo, magulo, minsan nakakairita nang pagsabihan at patahimikan pero yun ang mami-miss ko senyo... siguro if ever sa bagong block ko, di masyadong maingay, hahanap-hanapin ko yung ingay nyo (nating!) lahat.

BSN22....

I LOVE YOU BSN22!!!! MAMI-MISS KO KAYO!!!

my It Started with a Kiss/They Kiss Again Review PART1

It just started out of mere curiosity.

When It Started with a Kiss (fondly called ISWAK by my co-forumers) graced our TV screens around 2006, I didn’t pay attention to it. First, it was on a timeslot wherein I am having my taekwondo training (Saturdays and Sundays, 10AM-12PM) and its timeslot was… I think around 10? Second, if ever I don’t have training on weekends, I watch its rival show on GMA 7, My Name is Kim Sam Soon Rewind (yes… I was at that point of my MNIKSS addiction hahaha). So basically, ISWAK was just any other typical Asianovela.

One day, one of my co-forumers suggested watching ISWAK, and since at that time, ISWAK was winning the ratings against MNIKSS, but still… nothing. Not until one day (the rewinds was already over by then) and I accidentally switched the channel to ABS… since my pestering lil bro wouldn’t let me use the PC… hahaha.

It was actually the final episode, the final scene—the not-so-typical outdoor wedding of Jiang Zhi Shu (fondly called as Michael here in the Philippines) and Yuan Xiang Qin (fondly called as Jeanie)… my first impression was, “What a funny wedding!” Hahaha.

But waaayyyy before my very first encounter of watching ISWAK, it accidentally became a part of my life…. without me actually paying attention to it. The reasons?

First: Xiang Qin’s Filipino name

If you guys do not know my name, my name is Jeanne Kaye Ruiz… for many years I considered my name as somewhat unique because: it’s either people mispronounce it when they read my name or they misspell the whole thing. Also, at that time, I only know one person who bears the same name as I do (Jey-nn)… but hers was pronounced as “Jan” so basically, my name was quite unique. But WTH?!?! Ever since my female classmates started watching ISWAK at ABS, I was teased like, “Bunny (my nick my classmates call me), kapangalan mo si Jeanie grabe!” or something like that. I didn’t take it seriously because at that time, I wasn’t interested with ISWAK at all.

Second: my friend Sam

Sam… (Sam if you’re reading this, this is dedicated to you… haha!) was… how do I call it.. addicted to ISWAK? At that time, she was going gaga over Michael.. and I think he was also her inspiration that’s why she enjoyed tennis! (well, aside from her tennis idols of course). Note: If you remember, Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin were part of the tennis club during their college days. But hey, I was still addicted to MNIKSS at that time… so wala pa din. Hehe.

Not until around February of this year when I started getting addicted to ISWAK… well honestly, it was They Kiss Again (TKA). I was browsing over the pages of my contacts in Multiply when I saw a TKA trailer in Ate Julz’s page… I was like, “O! may sequel na pala ang ISWAK?!” Then out of curiosity, I watched the first ep in YouTube.

Things were actually going okay… until I saw THAT scene. I mean, honestly, I have seen hot kissing scenes (whether Japanese, Korean or Taiwanese) but it never came to THAT point. EVER. (Heck, now I am already convinced that they beat Ju Ji Hun-Yoon Eun Hye’s uber HOT ep23 kissing scene in Goong!) That whole 5mins, I was like, having occasional jaw drops, eye popping moments, and constantly hiding my face behind a pillow… Haha! It has got to be the HOTTEST kissing/bed scene I have seen in a drama so far… (I doubt if another drama can beat this… Hahaha!)

And so it was a start of a blossoming addiction between me and ISWAK/TKA. Ever since that moment, I decided to buy an ISWAK DVD for reference (yeah… a MAJOR reason why I watched ISWAK coinciding with me watching TKA is because of the reference I can get from ISWAK—to understand why such scene was shown in TKA) but eventually, I fell in love with it! It was such a CUTE drama, and you could really feel for Xiang Qin… and trust me, even though Zhi Shu is SOOOOOO handsome, at times I want to punch him for doing mean things to Xiang Qin (but hey, who wouldn’t forgive him when he started being sweet to Xiang Qin during eps29-30 of ISWAK? Cute!)

But, if you were to ask me to choose between ISWAK and TKA, I would have to choose TKA. WHY? While ISWAK was an idol series, it was a typical story of girl-likes-boy that is an ice prince-but eventually falls for the girl type of storyline, TKA showed what goes beyond that—MARRIAGE. I’m not going to sound sadistic (or pervie for that matter… hehehe) but I really like the fact that TKA has LOTSA KISSING SCENES… hahaha! It really showed the vibe that Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin have changed (and grown!) a lot from ISWAK to TKA—from a simple crush turned love to the life of marriage.

Another fact why I love TKA than ISWAK was because of the development of the characters:

First: Yuan Ba Ba (Cai Shu/Ah Cai)

I won’t elaborate on Cai Shu but, I’m really glad that he has changed from ISWAK to TKA. Unlike in ISWAK where he played deaf ears to his daughter’s cries every time her heart breaks because of Zhi Shu, I love it when at TKA ep11, he punched and shouted Zhi Shu hard on the face, and for the first time (I think), defended his daughter. Well done, Yuan Ba Ba!

Second: Yu Shu

Haha! I love this! From that cute but pesky little kid from ISWAK (who hates/pesters Xiang Qin almost every time), now we already see a grown up Yu Shu in TKA… haha! Even though he still can be pesky at times, I love it that though all this time, even when he gets irritated at Xiang Qin, he still cares for his Sao Sao (sister-in-law)… and we all know Yu Shu hates stupid people.. haha! Plus, Yu Shu gets the taste of his own medicine when he shares the same fate as what his GeGe (older brother) did! Yu Shu and Hao Mei… like a Zhi Shu-Xiang Qin love story Jr. Cute!

Third: Ah Jin

Okay… so I admit I hated Ah Jin back during ISWAK days because he was like a freakin’ pest! (a cute pest that is… hahaha). He follows Xiang Qin around and professes his love like it’s the end of the world! I mean, it’s romantic.. and it’s hard to find someone like Ah Jin but hey, Xiang Qin is NOT in love with him and only considers him as a friend! So he gets heartbroken… but fortunately in TKA, luck is on Ah Jin’s side! He finally meets his other half (in the presence of Christine) and the best part is… he’s not the one who is chasing! Instead, HE IS THE ONE BEING CHASED! Haha! Plus I love it that he has finally accepted that Xiang Qin will always, and will only be a GREAT/BEST friend to him… and at one instance, Ah Jin became an instrument for Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu’s reconciliation! (with their BIGGEST FIGHT EVER!)

Fourth: Xiang Qin

So you think Xiang Qin actually changed? Haha.. not really.. The stupid-slash-dumb girl you used to know in ISWAK is still the same in TKA… haha! Her stupidity never wears out on her, as well as her determination to do something in spite of its difficulties! I think the change that Xiang Qin had from ISWAK to TKA was the way she loved Zhi Shu. From her simple crush of two years, Xiang Qin’s love for Zhi Shu has actually gone a LOOOONNNGGG way. Because of her love, she took the Nursing course (and actually passing it). She actually endured two long years of not seeing Zhi Shu (during his medical service at MatSu). Because of this love, she also gathered enough strength to face Zhi Shu, not the so-called “masochist” she usually was and fought for herself and confronted Zhi Shu (ep11—one of the tear jerking moments). But the TRUE proof of her love was when she was willing to give Zhi Shu up, or rather, she was willing to leave him for fear that their “unborn” child won’t meet Zhi Shu’s expectations… Yeah, it was sort of petty but considering the fact that Zhi Shu has always been her LOVE and LIFE, it was such a BIG and GREAT move of Xiang Qin.

Fifth and last: Zhi Shu

Out of all the characters I mentioned, the person (or character) that I will take my hat off would be none other than Zhi Shu. From the once cold, aloof, indifferent, emotionless, jerk (oops!), unsweet, unromantic (I’m not bashing him, am I? Hahaha) Zhi Shu we saw from ISWAK ACTUALLY CHANGED IN TKA (Well, at least for the second half of the series). The once cold, emotionless, unsweet and unromantic Zhi Shu in ISWAK actually smiles, laughs becomes a romantic and sweet lao gong in TKA! He became more human in TKA because:

-he smiles

-he laughs

-he gets giddy

-he actually gets pervie… hahaha!

-he gets sweet and romantic (even if he only shows it to Xiang Qin in private..Note: I termed this as PDA-Private Display of Affection… hahaha!)

-he actually became disturbed (final ep)

-he actually CRIED (final ep)

-he actually became jealous (around eps9-11)

-HE ACTUALLY SAID I LOVE YOU to Xiang Qin (final ep)

Xiang Qin sometimes misunderstands Zhi Shu’s actions that’s why they bicker and fight, but often times it was Zhi Shu’s way to show what he feels… so sweet! And even though Xiang Qin once said that her love for him is greater than his love for her (meaning she loves him more than he loves her), Zhi Shu actually showed that his love for Xiang Qin was beyond what she thinks:

1. the reason why he entered (and took up) Medicine is mainly because of Xiang Qin’s influence (flashback to ISWAK regarding Ah Nuo’s illness)

2. he still has the habit of admiring (and kissing!) Xiang Qin whenever Xiang Qin is asleep

3. he confessed that HE IS JEALOUS in front of everyone in the cafeteria (putting his pride aside)

4. he hurriedly went back to Taiwan after his seminar at Japan (I think) just to be present at Xiang Qin’s capping ceremony (though he arrived late, plus he had no flowers)

5. he thought of scrapping his plan of military service in MatSu because he worries about Xiang Qin (the line “She doesn’t understand how much I love her” scene)

6. even though he’s busy doing military service in MatSu, he goes back to Taipei to accompany Xiang Qin and Yuan Ba Ba to visit Xiang Qin’s mom’s grave (death anniversary)

7. he accepted Xiang Qin’s absurd family, which were really absurd people

8. he risked his life being run over by a car (that was driven by Xiang Qin) just to stop her and protect her from danger of accident

9. his lock code on the house that he lived when he was in MatSu is Xiang Qin’s birthday...sweet!

10. he actually fell, broke his leg and was unconscious for a few days for the reason that he protected Xiang Qin from falling

11. he kept the mini bakeshop (with the note—Xiang Qin’s gift on his birthday), the JiaYou amulet (when he had his entrance exam), and Xiang Qin’s love letter to him (in the 1st ep of ISWAK) to show that he treasured all the things that Xiang Qin gave him… and that he gave his 2nd button (remember that in ISWAK Xiang Qin failed to get this)to Xiang Qin—as a ring to show that he gives himself to only one person—Xiang Qin.

12. at the final episode, he remembered all the memorable places they went to—the school balcony, the lake where they had their first date, and the tunnel where their first kiss took place), and actually went there when he was searching for her… only a little too late

13. he always turned the bedside night lamp on (even at the time where they were fighting), even though he was uncomfortable with it because Xiang Qin has night blindness

14. the best part of it all… during the last ep, it was the VERY FIRST TIME WE:

-saw Zhi Shu’s face totally disturbed and worried, not knowing what to do

-saw him break down

-saw him CRYING

-saw him afraid… for he might lose Xiang Qin

-heard him say über cheesy lines coming out of his mouth

-heard him say I LOVE YOU to Xiang Qin

Wow… I could go on and on with my Zhi Shu ranting… haha! But wait! It’s not over yet:

Have you ever wondered why someone like Zhi Shu would actually fall for someone like Xiang Qin? A guy with an IQ of 200, a genius, handsome, athletic, talented prince would fall for a dumb/stupid , clumsy girl with average looks and doesn’t know anything? I asked this question a lot of times, for I think this was also a MAJOR reason why I didn’t want to watch ISWAK at first. But as I started to watch TKA (and loving it… and getting addicted to it), I realized that Zhi Shu has all the reasons for falling in love with Xiang Qin, and Xiang Qin has all the reasons why Zhi Shu CAN fall in love with her.

If any of you watched TKA ep8, there was a scene there wherein Xiang Qin was asking Jiang Ma Ma why was Jiang Ma Ma SOOOOOO determined to pair up Xiang Qin and Zhi Shu… know what she said? I… actually can’t remember the exact lines (haha) but all I can say is that it was very touching… that the reason why Jiang Ma Ma chose her to be the girl her son should end up with is because Xiang Qin is the only girl she knew that is madly and stupidly in love with her son. Funny but it kinda makes sense. To all people, Zhi Shu is perfect—just like what was said earlier, has all the qualities a girl should ask for. And Xiang Qin? She is everything that is NOT perfect. Jiang Ma Ma said that since Zhi Shu is SOOOOO perfect, he can already see through other people—and calculates and treats them in a rational way. But Zhi Shu with Xiang Qin? She turns his world upside down and makes his world IMPERFECT. Yes, she is the one who IMPERFECTS his PERFECTIONS—which makes him more human. Remember what Zhi Shu said in the ep11 confrontation scene with Qi Tai? He never realized the feelings of jealousy until Xiang Qin came into his life… she was the one who opened the key to his heart to let out all the emotions HE himself cannot open. And though Zhi Shu always treats things in a rational way, it goes the other way around when it comes to Xiang Qin. He acts in impulse, he acts what a human being should live. And in TKA ep20 (final ep), was all of those feelings consummated. Once, in ep14, he said to Yuan Ba Ba that Xiang Qin should learn to live without him (which Xiang Qin actually endured for 2 years, when he was in MatSu) but what did Zhi Shu do at the last ep? It was just 1 day… but he almost went crazy thinking where Xiang Qin had gone… and what did he say when he found her at his office? “Please don’t ever leave me again, okay? I will be scared… I am scared… I am scared of living my days without you…” So know who says Xiang Qin doesn’t deserve Zhi Shu?

and when you thought that LOOOONGGGGG blog was over...
